Adidas Originals Tribute

The upcoming summer season, we have chosen to make a small tribute by highlighting the sneakers from Adidas that we consider classics and original styles. These are models that everyone should have at least one pair of in their wardrobe.

Adidas Originals Tribute

The Earlham model, with the classic white silhouette, is originally from the 1980s, and it takes its origin in the classic tennis shoe.

If you think the Earlham silhouette seems familiar, then it may be due to some of its predecessors and sources of inspiration. Like Stan Smith, Earlham draws on references from the Gazelle, Volley and Grand Prix. In fact, Earlham is built on a Stan Smith sole with a modified Grand Prix upper, but it is narrower and lower in silhouette. Unlike Stan Smith, it is not a tennis player who has created or played in the model. The Adidas Earlham is made of extremely soft leather and the perforation in the snout gives an airy feeling and ensures good ventilation. Very useful for all outfits and perfect in the summer heat - a summer must have.

Adidas Forum first hit the market in 1984. Forum was created as a basketball boot and was revolutionary in its appearance and function for its time. The original boot is with a high shaft and designed with a white base tone with blue details. The shoe is made of leather, and the boot has a velcro strap to tighten around the ankle, created to create optimal support for the ankle in quick turns and a starting point for jump shots and dunks on the basketball court.

As with so many other Adidas shoes, Forum was quickly adopted by the cultural life of both the fashion and music worlds. And guess what - Run-DMC probably also had a small finger in the game in the spread of Forum from the basketball court to the street. The Adidas Forum has achieved classic status in the same way as, for example, Campus, Stan Smith and the Superstar mentioned above.

Last season, Adidas invested heavily in the revived classic, and they continue to do so.

The model Superstar is originally from 1969 and created for basketball.

Superstar was intended as a groundbreaking and innovative new basketball shoe. The shoe actually originates from its significantly lesser known ancestor, the model Supergrib, from 1965. Adidas designers had previously focused a lot on improving especially tennis shoes and football boots, but quietly they opened their eyes to the fact that some of these improvements could also be used for footwear designed for use in other sports. In particular, the idea of reinforcing the front of the shoe, as seen at the Supergrib, should prove to be an advantage for the Superstar, who also wears this physically aesthetic trait. The reinforced snout made it significantly easier for basketball players to make start-stop maneuvers as well as to make quick turns on the court.

The shoe's unrivaled groundbreaking technology for its time spoke its own clear language: just four years after its launch in 1969, 85% of NBA players played in the Adidas Superstar.

The adidas Superstar really took off in popular culture in the 1980s. The breakthrough is simply due to one thing - Run-DMC. The big-hitting hip-hop group from Queens, New York, used the Adidas Superstar shoe very diligently. They are wearing Superstar shoes, on most of the pictures found of them. Overall, Run-DMC represented Adidas really well. There are many iconic images of the group, where they pose in, for example, Adidas tracksuits or parts of tracksuits - of course styled with completely fresh, white Adidas Superstars.

Whether you are into an authentic sneaker based in the basketball world or are more into a classic look inspired by the game on the tennis court, or something completely different, you can find your next sneaker in your qUINT or online at our webshop.
