Kanye - Mad or Genius?

Kanye is a Grammy award-winning rapper, producer and fashion designer. If asked, he would likely answer that he is a phenomenon who has reinvented hip-hop several times during his career. He will definitely also say he is a designer who has created a new style and fashion and someone who has pushed the envelope in terms of what a hip-hop artist can wear. He’s generated millions of headlines with his outrageous tweets and his marriage to Kim Kardashian.

Kanye started out producing songs for Jay-Z and after four successful hit songs on THE BLUEPRINT ALBUM, he quickly became a popular producer for other artists, including Mos Def, Talib Kweli, Beyonce, Alicia Keys and Ludacris. However Kanye wanted to be a front figure himself but he struggled to make a breakthrough in the music industry since he didn’t have the same street attitude as the others at that point. After a car accident in 2002 when he broke his jaw, he wrote the song THROUGH THE WIRE while he lay in his hospital bed. It was the beginning of his debut album. After the album was unfortunately leaked, Kanye decided to rewrite the songs and make the production of the album even stronger. His album was released in February 2004 and over 2.6 million copies were sold. Kanye was a star. Subsequently, Kanye founded his own record company Getting Out Our Dreams (GOOD), which published music by John Legend, Big Sean, Common, Pusha-T and many others.

Success quickly followed success and Kanye released one hit album after another.

In addition to his music, Kanye also had time to do different things for brands in the fashion industry. This culminated in his own brand in 2011, which he presented in Paris. However, there was not a great deal of enthusiasm for Kanye’s first collection, though after he signed a contract with Adidas and created Yeezy Season 1 in 2015, his popularity as a designer took off. He has had difficulties with the fashion industry since then because he believes that he has not been accepted.

But in the last couple of years, more and more people have acknowledged his brand and gained an understanding and respect for him because he never gives up.

Kanye was diagnosed bipolar in 2018, a mental disorder characterised by periods of depression and periods of abnormally elevated mood. This perhaps makes sense to many people when they consider the many wild comments that he has made throughout his career. Kanye personally believes that it is his superpower and the reason for his wild creativity. Kanye has had a great influence on music and fashion throughout the last two decades, and from the very beginning of his career, he has made a real impact on their development.
